A Fool Such as I - Hank Snow

A Fool Such as I, written by Bill Trader, published 1952. Performed by Hank Snow it peaked at no 4 on the country charts early 1953. Bill Trader was a song writer but had 1 album - Bill Trader Sings His Songs. Presley gives this country song an R & B flavour.

Presley recorded it in June 1958 and it was released in 1959 as the b side of I Need Your Love Tonight. The song has been recorded by many artists since.

Bill Trader was primarily a song writer, and A Fool Such As I was originally a  hit for Hank Snow in 1952. However, there is at least one album by Bill himself, Bill Trader Sings His Songs illustrated here, backed by a group called the Castaways. Bill also co-wrote a song called I Found Love Again with Hoagy Carmichael. Another song of Bill's recorded by other artists was Don't Wake Me Now.

There are some interesting comments at the foot of this page regarding Bill Trader.

Here's Hank singing the song live
